A day like today marks the release of Me Before You, a 2016 romantic drama co-produced by the United Kingdom and the United States, directed by Thea Sharrock in her directorial debut and adapted by English author Jojo Moyes from her 2012 novel of the same name.
The film stars Emilia Clarke, Sam Claflin, Jenna Coleman, Charles Dance, Janet McTeer, and Matthew Lewis.
The story follows Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke), a quirky and creative young woman living in a small English countryside town. Without a clear direction in life, Lou drifts from one job to another to help support her family. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she accepts a new job at the local castle, where she is tasked with caring for and keeping company with Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became quadriplegic after a tragic accident.
The relationship between Lou and Will transforms into an emotional journey that challenges their perspectives on love, life, and second chances.
