Kangaroo Jack

Kangaroo Jack is a quirky action-comedy adventure that blends slapstick humor with lighthearted crime caper elements. Directed by David McNally, the film follows two childhood friends from Brooklyn—Charlie (Jerry O’Connell), a struggling hairdresser, and Louis (Anthony Anderson), an unlucky hustler—who get swept into trouble when they’re forced to deliver a package for a mob boss in Australia.
Jerry O'Connell Looks Back on His Worst Movie, 'Kangaroo Jack'
What seems like a simple errand turns into chaos when the duo accidentally hits a kangaroo with their jeep and decide to dress it up in Louis’s jacket for a photo op. The problem? The jacket contains $50,000 in mob money—and the kangaroo isn’t dead. It hops away into the Outback, cash and all.
From there, Charlie and Louis embark on a madcap chase across the rugged Australian wilderness, encountering bizarre characters, close calls, and, of course, a mischievous kangaroo with surprising agility. Along the way, they’re joined by Jessie (Estella Warren), an Australian wildlife expert who helps them navigate the Outback—and their growing problems.
Review: Kangaroo Jack - Slant Magazine
Known for its blend of talking animal CGI and over-the-top humor, Kangaroo Jack leans heavily into cartoonish antics and broad comedy. Though it received mixed reviews, the film became a childhood favorite for many and remains a pop-culture oddity from the early 2000s.
